Article 12. Probation period and organization of mentoring for first-time applicants to the law enforcement service of the Law Enforcement Service Act
1. A probation period of up to three months is established for persons entering law enforcement service for the first time.
If the result of the probation period is unsatisfactory, the probation period is extended for three months without further renewal by decision of the head of the law enforcement agency or an authorized head who has the right to appoint to the appropriate positions.
2. The probation period is established in order to verify his compliance with the position of the law enforcement service. No special rank or class rank is awarded during the probation period.
3. The condition for passing the probation period is provided for in the order of the head of a law enforcement agency or an authorized head on recruitment to law enforcement agencies.
4. If the probation period has expired and the employee continues to serve in law enforcement agencies, he is considered to have passed the test and the probation period is counted in the length of service in law enforcement agencies. Subsequent dismissal is allowed only on the grounds provided for by this Law.
5. During the probation period, the employee is subject to the provisions of this Law and other regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan regulating service in law enforcement agencies. During the probation period, an employee performs the official duties assigned to him, fully implements the rights granted to him, with the exception of the right to carry and store firearms and special equipment.
6. The probation period does not include periods when an employee is absent from work for valid reasons.
7. The probation period is not set for:
1) persons who enter the service of law enforcement agencies and are appointed to senior and senior management positions;
2) graduates of law enforcement education organizations;
3) persons who have completed initial professional training in law enforcement education organizations;
4) persons who previously served in law enforcement or special government agencies;
5) judges who have terminated their powers, with the exception of those dismissed or terminated their powers for negative reasons.
8. Persons entering law enforcement service for the first time are assigned a mentor from among law enforcement officers with appropriate professional training and significant work experience.
This provision does not apply to persons entering senior and senior management positions for the first time.
The procedure and deadlines for the organization of mentoring for persons entering law enforcement service for the first time are determined by the regulatory legal acts of the heads of law enforcement agencies.

This Law regulates public relations related to admission to the law enforcement service of the Republic of Kazakhstan, its passage and termination, and also defines the legal status (status), financial support and social protection of law enforcement officers of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
